Laura Elliot is a contemporary, multi-media artist with a passion for creating mixed-media painting and creating metal clay designs with genuine gemstones. She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Honors in Art and Media, specializing in fine art and photography.
Her artworks are displayed in private collections worldwide and have been exhibited within exciting group and solo exhibitions, memberships, and galleries. She now not only exhibits her paintings but has been allowed to display and sell her original mixed media paintings and metal clay jeweler and sculptures at Degree Art Gallery, London, UK.
Elliot has always had the creative streak in her. She recounts the tales her father has of her creativity, in little everyday things, at the tender age of three. Throughout her childhood she has always gravitated to all things artsy and imaginative. Her favourite media are clay and paint. She brings out her inspiration from her experiences and emotions.
Her paintings convey her feelings through the use of color. According to her, color can explore and connote a deep emotional meaning to her viewers, a central consideration of each piece she creates. She says, “Art comes alive within people’s minds and I aim to ignite the same excitement within every person who views or buys my work.”
Although always a creative person, art was not Elliot’s first career. Elliot worked as a nurse from the age of 18 to 23. She then felt the passion to create and her dream of holding a degree in art became a reality. She loves the freedom of expression art offers her and uses art to express her inner self. For the future she sees herself exploring new techniques. She would like to incorporate other elements (such as sand, glass, gold leaf, gilding flakes, newspaper, and genuine gemstone granules) within two mediums: painting and metal clay.
