It was a magical night…literally, as master illusionist Murray Sawchuck kicked off the latest entertainment celebration at the Queen Mary, FantaSea. The event, held in association with The Academy of Magical Arts, showcased some of the city’s top magicians dazzling spectators with their craft and creativity. From Sawchuck’s Vegas inspired performance to the Hocus Pocus Parlor & Pub, the audience was amazed and perplexed at the way these wizards seemingly read people’s minds and conjured items out of thin air. For all of it to happen on such a revered and historic vessel only added to the mystique of the evening. As you walked from salon to salon you were captivated as much by the architecture and grandeur of the ship as you were for the actual performances. With so much to do, including a trip to The Cauldron, where one could see a show while partaking in the evening’s libations, to strolling through the Enchanted Corridor, to a jaunt on a ghost haunt, there didn’t seem to be enough time to capture and savor it all! But that’s just the price you pay for such a great night of entertainment and wonder. Here’s to hoping they bring it back it next year!
