In an attempt to rock harder than anyone has rocked The Satellite before, Foxtrax arose to that challenge and raised that bar and completely knocking it off its hinges. These transplanted New York rockers now call Los Angeles home and definitely have something to write home about. With a recent showcase at this year’s South By Southwest Music Festival this group led by Ben Schied (vocals/guitar), Jared Stenz (bass) and Jon Stenz (drums). Foxtrax has covered lots of ground touring across the states in support of their latest EP, The Cabin.
Within the sleepy town of Silverlake, near Downtown L.A., getting the crowd warmed up was easy with openers Modern Me and Joe Marson. San Diego based quintet, Modern Me, were anything but modern with their brand of indie-pop. Their catchy driving beats bordered on futurism and neo-pop. They had all the right moves with their hit single, “ Run Away.” Singer/songwriter Joe Marson followed with a brutal grungy-blues with Hendrix-style riffs at every turn. The electro-soul guitarist brought down-right dirty blues mixed with acid rock that tangled hair while curling the tips. He destroyed the room with his set and latest single, “Explore/Explode.”
With a wide range of emotions that drive their EP The Cabin, Foxtrax have been featured on Spotify, Apple Music and performed a set on Sofar Sounds L.A. The guys have plenty of attitude on stage as they wow the crowd with blended and anthemic rock tracks. They dare to take songs into uncharted territories like the dreamy ballad, “Dark of the Night.” They blend dance-able songs like “Go It Alone” with heavy tracks like “I’ll Be Back for You.”
It doesn’t take long after witnessing Foxtrax live to realize that these guys are in it for the long haul. With adventure in their sights and a fearless determination to get the Led out, the band is on the way to becoming a household name. Foxtrax is currently on tour with several dates lined up across the states this May. Be on the lookout.
