Brisbane native, Gabriella Cohen, wields razor sharp lyrics and dynamic fuzz rock that stands out as the next best import from Australia’s indie underground scene. With comparisons to Courtney Barnett, Cohen impressively made her debut release in just 10 days. Full Closure and No Details is that latest release and has sent Cohen all over the world with this tour and brought down the house at L.A.’s The Fonda Theatre.
Cohen’s influences vary with strong attraction towards Velvet Underground and Leonard Cohen, whose influences are heard in the tracks “I Don’t Feel so Alive” and “Downtown.” Cohen’s full band was electric on stage as Cohen began a duet with bandmate Kate ‘BabyShakes’ Dillon. Songs about heartbreak and mid-20’s angst were laced throughout her set as the crowd stood in awe listening to Cohen’s unbound spirit. The jangly start to “Downtown” had the fans swooning over Cohen’s vocals. There is definitely more to come from this talented and fierce artist. Gabriella Cohen is currently on tour in support of her latest album, Full Closure and No Details.
