Las Cafeteras honor the feminine spirit with a New Music Video and song to be released for International Women’s Month.
Just in time for International Women’s Day, LA’s musical activists Las Cafeteras, drop a fresh new remix and music video.
The project was a special collaboration with Los Angeles DJ Crew La Junta Sound System’s YUKICITO who remixed MUJER SOY (I Am Woman) into an upbeat dance track that centers & celebrates women in the many places we work & live.
This is a song calling out the injustices done to women; however, highlighting the POWER of resiliency women inherently possess
-Denise Carlos, with Las Cafeteras.
The music video itself captures a day in the true life of a young, fierce, woman of color from the Eastside of Los Angeles, named Maryann Aguirre. The video follows her as she faces the challenges of work, single motherhood & community leadership however; meets those challenges with hope, veracity and dignity.
In a time when women are too often degraded in the club, we’re trying to reclaim the dance floor to celebrate & uplift women
-Daniel French with Las Cafeteras.
The original tune by Las Cafeteras was written and recorded with traditional instruments to pay homage to the various experiences women face in the house, in the streets, and in sweatshops (called Maquiladoras in Spanish) around the world.
