What has been dubbed the ‘Latin Coachella’ or ‘Latin FYF,’ Supersonico brings the multilingual, multicultural music festival to Los Angeles for a second year with an impressive roster for fans of all genres. The Palladium will host this year’s show with notable artists like Chicano Batman, Mexican Institute of Sound, Aterciopelados, Mariachi El Bronx, Mala Rodriguez, and Kinky to name a few. The festival also includes local and international DJ’s, art, a variety of vendors and food trucks.
The diverse music festival will take place on Oct. 3rd and will includes popular artists, Prayers, who recently had a documentary expose on Noisey about their cholo-goth movement in the heart of San Diego. The sounds of Ximena Sariñana are pop with beats that are comparable to the dance-vibe of Lily Allen. Meanwhile, the crushing grooves of Hello Seahorse! attacks the listener with lead singer Denise Gutierrez’s surreal vocals on notable songs like “No Es Que No Te Quiera” and “La Flotadera.” Hometown favorites, Chicano Batman impressed the crowd at Coachella earlier this April as well as opening for Jack White on a recent tour. The Chilean four-piece, Astro, brings highly anticipated electro-pop to the table in the vein of their influences: Peter Gabriel, MGMT and David Bowie.
The cultural happening brings so many artists from all of the Americas making Los Angeles residents hopeful that it becomes an annual festival. Last year brought out Café Tacvba, Calle 13 and Bomba Estéreo. Tickets are on sale now through Live Nation and online for $63.00 (plus fees). More info at social media outlets:
